About the Foundation

The Mary Ryan & Henry G. Kuhrt Foundation is an independent charitable foundation, established in 1959 under Item Seven of the will of Henry G. Kuhrt, III as a memorial to his mother and father.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Mary Ryan & Henry G. Kuhrt Foundation is to make contributions for the benefit of religious, educational and charitable institutions in the state of Georgia.


Guidelines

Funding Priorities or Interests

The Foundation supports Roman Catholic, educational, and other charitable institutions in Georgia with a focus on the following areas:

  • Arts/Culture,
  • Children/Youth Services,
  • Education,
  • Health/Sciences,
  • Human Services, and
  • Religion

Geographic Focus

  • Georgia – Mostly Metro Atlanta

Types of Support

  • Capital Support
  • General/Operating Support
  • Scholarship Support

Eligibility Requirements

The Trustee will consider all qualified applications received from organizations that are exempt from taxation under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c)(3). If you are a 509 (a)(3) Supporting Organization, please be prepared to provide additional information. Grants are not made to support individuals.

Grant Cycle and Deadline Information

Applications must be received by September 30. Organizations selected to receive funding will typically be notified in December.

Grant proposals are evaluated on the basis of a demonstrated need for the project; clearly stated objectives and a well-developed plan for achieving them; evidence of the organization’s ability to manage, fund and sustain the project; and appropriateness to the interests of the Foundation.

Recipients of grants are expected to submit a report on the expenditure of the funds and an evaluation of the project.

Grant Range

The average grant size is between $1,000-$5,000.
