About the Foundation
The Besse Johnson & George Blanton Allen Memorial Foundation was established by Besse Johnson Sillay on September 24, 1980.
Guidelines
Funding Priorities:
The Foundation supports a variety of charitable organizations in metro Atlanta including education, health, culture, religion and social service. Priority is given to Piedmont Hospital. The majority of the Foundation’s funding goes towards capital projects in Atlanta, but grants for program and specific project support are also considered.
Geographic Focus:
Grants are made to organizations in metro Atlanta.

Eligibility Requirements:
The Trustees will consider all qualified applications received from organizations that are exempt from taxation under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c)(3). If you are a 509 (a)(3) Supporting Organization, please be prepared to provide additional information. Grants are not made to support individuals.
Grant Cycle and Deadline Information:
The Foundation’s Trustees meet annually in December. October 31st is the deadline for submitting grant proposals to be considered at the annual meeting.
Grant Range:
The average grant size is between $1,000 – $5,000.
