About the Foundation
The Matthew A. and Mildred Hunter Foundation was established in 1997. It was the desire of Mr. and Mrs. Hunter that the Foundation be used exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes.
Guidelines
Funding Priorities:
Preference shall be given to charitable organizations involved in assisting abused children and mentally retarded persons of all ages and educational institutions including high schools, colleges, universities, vocational technical schools and nursery schools, for the purposes of providing scholarships to students who need financial assistance.
Geographic Focus:
The Matthew A. and Mildred Hunter Foundation has generally restricted its funding to organizations located or operating in Lake County, Florida.

Restrictions:
No grants will be for capital projects.
Eligibility Requirements:
The Trustees shall consider all qualified applications received from organizations that are exempt from taxation under the Internal revenue Code Sections 501 (c) (3) and 509.
Grant Cycle and Deadline Information:
The Foundation’s Trustees meet annually in December. October 31st is the deadline for submitting grant proposals to be considered at the annual meeting.
Grant Range:
The average grant size is between $2,500 – $20,000.
