About the Foundation

The Gordon J. Barnett Memorial Foundation was established June 24, 1955. The Trust was established for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, and educational purposes or the prevention of cruelty to children or animals.

Guidelines

Funding Priorities:

  • Educational institutions in states of Florida, Indiana, New York, and Oklahoma, including in such states primary or secondary schools, junior colleges, universities and trade or professional schools.
  • Religious Organizations in Florida.
  • Ecological, literary, medical and scientific organizations in Florida.
  • Community chests, United Appeals and institutions organized for the charitable purposes of preventing cruelty to children or animals in Florida.

Geographic Focus:
State of Florida with special consideration of educational institutions in Indiana, New York and Oklahoma.

  • Project Support
  • General Operating
  • Scholarships
  • Program Support

Restrictions:
No grants will be made to organizations that participate in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.

No grants will be made to individuals.

Eligibility Requirements:
The Board of Governors shall consider qualified organizations that are exempt from taxation under the internal revenue Code Sections 501(c)(3). If you are a 509(a)(3) Supporting Organization, please be prepared to provide additional information.

Grant Cycle and Deadline Information:
The Board of Governors meets annually in October to review proposals. July 31st is the deadline for submitting a proposal.

Grant Range:
Average grant size is $1,000 – $20,000.
