About the Foundation

The Asbury-Warren Foundation was established by Mrs. Josephine Warren Asbury in memory of her parents, Charlotte and Richard C. Warren. Truist Bank serves as trustee of the fund, in accordance with the founder’s wishes.


Guidelines

Funding Priorities:
The Foundation primarily funds educational and religious organizations in Appalachia. The governing instrument lists the following charitable institutions as suggested, but not required, recipients:

  • Berea College (Berea, KY)
  • Fuller Theological Foundation (Los Angeles, CA)
  • Siskin Memorial Fund (Chattanooga, TN)
  • Tennessee Heart Association (Memphis, TN)

Geographic Focus:
The majority of grants made by the Foundation go to support organizations in Appalachia.

Eligibility Requirements:
The Foundation will consider all qualified applications received from organizations that are exempt from taxation under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). If you are a 509 (a)(3) Supporting Organization, please be prepared to provide additional information. Grants are not made to support individuals.

Grant Cycle and Deadline Information:
The application deadline is July 31.

Applications must be submitted online by the deadline for consideration at the annual board meeting.

Grant Range:
The average grant size ranges from $5,000 to $15,000.
